By partnering with policy making units and individuals across all university units and departments, the KU Policy Office serves as an institution-wide resource for policy and policy development. Policy Office staff members facilitate the coordination of:

• policy development,
• policy approval,
• and periodic policy review and revision.

Members of the Policy Office serve as resource specialists on the process by which policies are created, revised, and published. As a service unit, we value collaboration with subject matter experts and strive to make each policy development process as inclusive as possible to ensure that policies are appropriate and serve our campus community.

The Policy Office is available to assist subject matter experts within units in determining the appropriate stakeholder groups and contacts who should be consulted during the creation or revision process. An important tool to support the transparency of development of policy is the process by which policy is developed, reviewed, and approved on the Lawrence campus.
